Part of this goal is connecting our nursing students with groups that can also enhance their knowledge and network. The CTU® College of Nursing & Health Studies is proud to announce its approval to charter a new chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and induct our first members into the organization.
Honor Society Inductions
Sigma Theta Tau, or “Sigma,” is a prestigious nursing organization, founded in 1922, and serves over 135,000 active members. It has approximately 540 chapters and members residing in more than 100 countries worldwide.1
CTU’s new Alpha Alpha Epsilon chapter of Sigma chartered and inducted its first members virtually on September 17, 2020. Dean of the College of Nursing & Health Studies, Dr. Ruth Tarantine, shared her excitement surrounding the induction:
I am delighted that Colorado Technical University now has a Sigma chapter. Sigma’s goal of leadership is in alignment with our BSN, MSN and DNP goals of preparing leaders within the nursing profession. Most importantly, our chapter represents the voice of our students and faculty who asked for a Sigma chapter. We are proud of their commitment to the profession.
Additionally, Dr. Laurie Stark, Adjunct Faculty and President of the new Alpha Alpha Epsilon chapter, conveyed her joy in honoring the University’s first members:
It has been my honor to lead the application process for a Sigma chapter at the College of Nursing & Health Studies at CTU. Membership in this prestigious organization provides nurses with a multitude of avenues for advancing the science of nursing as well as opportunities for growth in leadership. Owing to the collective energy and collaboration of the members of the organizing board, we now have a chapter of Sigma at CTU. I look forward to being a part of one of the newest chapters of Sigma, to continued growth in membership and to seeing the evolution of new nurse leaders.
New! CTU Nursing Excellence Grant
In recognition of the Sigma induction, CTU is offering a new RN-to-BSN grant available from October 1, 2020, through January 5, 2021. The Nursing Excellence Grant provides incoming students enrolling in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program the opportunity to pursue their degree at a 20% reduction in program tuition.
The Nursing Excellence Grant offers program tuition costs starting at $9,984* (with grant savings applied), and books are included in tuition. Eligible new students interested in leveraging the grant must start classes by the January 5, 2021 session. Contact CTU Admissions at 877-640-7555 ext. 25279 for more information.
Existing students enrolled in the RN-to-BSN program at CTU are also eligible to receive the Nursing Excellence Grant. Current students should contact their dedicated Financial Aid Advisor for details.

At this time, Colorado Technical University cannot accept inquiries for the RN-BSN program from residents of the states of Delaware, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Nevada, New York, Tennessee, and West Virginia.
*Tuition cost and program length assume a student will transfer in an associate nursing degree, will be continuously enrolled, and satisfactorily completes all program requirements for graduation. The total tuition cost will increase and program length may change due to academic failure of courses and or withdrawals and drops. CTU cannot guarantee transfer or other credit will be accepted; please see the University Transfer Credit policy.
University grants or scholarships are based on established criteria as published in the University Catalog or on its website and are awarded after verification that the conditions of eligibility have been met.
